If you enjoy spending time with friends and going out to socialise, you probably already know how harmful this lifestyle can be to your wallet, or worse, your savings account. But, where’s the fun in life if you’re always opting to stay home and never spending time with friends or going out? The good news is there are ways to achieve that balance you crave on a budget.

If you’re looking for some quality time with friends or family that doesn’t break the bank. We’ve included a few of our favourites below:

There are plenty of great options on a budget:

Go for a bush walk:

There are a million and one beautiful sights to be seen in this beautiful country of ours. Why not strap on some hiking boots and get out there? You can even pack a lunch and have a picnic on the summit. Don’t forget your camera, you never know what you might come across!

Host a sports tournament:

Invite your friends and family for a good old-fashioned ping pong tournament (or any activity, really). Make sure everyone is aware that while you’re providing the location, the drinks are strictly BYO! We all know tournaments can get a little out of hand…

Have a potluck dinner party:

Get a group of your friends together and assign everyone a dish. You can have a really delicious dinner in your own home and you don’t have to be in charge of cooking everything! To make it even more exciting, give everyone a dress code—it will feel like a fancy night out before you know it.

Go camping:

This is one of the greatest activities to have fun and save money when on a budget. Who doesn’t love reminiscing around the camp fire with mates? Pack up the car with all the necessities: esky full of food and drinks, pack of cards, lantern, your favourite people and warm clothing (it is almost winter after all) and get adventuring.

Volunteer:

What’s better than spending time with your favourite people and making a difference at the same time? The answer is nothing. Whether you want to make a difference with local children or volunteer at the animal shelter (did someone say puppies?), there are tons of different ways to make a difference, so why not try them out?
